This website is part of the IR group focusing on the storage and access of multimedia information via mono- or multi-modal user interaction. We have a vigorous programme of research around the following three themes:

  • (i) Adaptive and personalized search systems
  • (ii) Multimodal interaction for information retrieval
  • (iii) Multimedia mining and search

This group is led by Prof. Joemon M Jose and is part of the larger group led by by Professor Keith van Rijsbergen on Information Retrieval. This group is instrumental in attracting external research funding, very active in organizing information retrieval activities and in producing high-class publications. Recent research projects include: Personalized information agents, Collaborative Search Systems, Affective Search systems, Personalized news delivery, personalized multimedia information management, Interactive and adaptive video retrieval systems, context-based multimedia mining and annotation, semantic classification of multimedia objects, event detection and personalized summarization of multimedia data.
